Washout

It’s Monday. No car show. No air show. No Oktoberfest. Nope, Mother Nature looked at the weekend calendar and apparently decided, “Screw all that fun shit. You people need three solid days of rain.” And just like that, the majority of my weekend plans went straight down the drain.

So I spent most of the weekend indoors, with the exception of heading to the theater to finally catch Coyote vs. Acme, which turned out to be funny as hell and well worth getting out of the house for.

Saturday night was NASCAR night as I watched the night race at Bristol. It was a pretty damn good race with plenty of action, and Joey Logano eventually took the checkered flag. Of course, nobody seemed particularly interested in talking about the winner because the real entertainment came afterward when a fight broke out in the pits between Ryan Blaney and Carson Hocevar. Because apparently finishing a 500-lap race isn’t enough drama—we need a little NASCAR UFC before everyone goes home.

Sunday brought the Bears and Vikings, and unfortunately the Bears decided to play like they had somewhere else they’d rather be. It was an ugly game that ended in a loss, and to make matters worse, Caleb Williams injured his right hamstring. Yeah… they had to take him out on a cart.

So there you have it: three days of rain, canceled events, a NASCAR pit fight, an ugly Bears loss, and an injured quarterback. About the only thing missing was the return of the Black Plague.
