Took A Drive

It’s Monday. It was a beautiful Saturday morning, so the girlfriend and I decided to take a road trip up to Michigan for the day. We picked St. Joseph as our destination because we’ve been there several times and really enjoy the beach and laid-back vibe. With Labor Day weekend in the rearview mirror, most of the vacation crowds had packed up and headed home, leaving us with a beautiful beach and plenty of room to relax.

After spending the afternoon soaking up the sunshine and enjoying the beach, we decided to take a scenic drive down to New Buffalo for dinner at one of our favorite spots, The Stray Dog. The food and drinks are fantastic, and if you can snag a table up on the Sky Deck, I highly recommend it. Great food, cold drinks, a beautiful view, and a gorgeous day in Michigan—hard to beat that combination.

Sunday turned into a full-blown dual-sports day, with football and NASCAR filling up the schedule. First up was the Bears game against the Panthers, and holy crap, did the Bears come ready to play! They absolutely lit up the scoreboard, rolling to an impressive 59–37 victory. Bears fans couldn’t have asked for a better way to kick off the season!

Then it was time to switch gears and check out the NASCAR race in St. Louis. It turned out to be a pretty damn good race, with a track-record 18 cautions keeping things interesting. After all the chaos, Kyle Larson came out on top in double overtime, snapping a 51-race winless streak and finally getting himself back into Victory Lane.

All in all, it was one hell of a weekend—beautiful weather, a Michigan road trip, a great dinner, a Bears blowout, and a NASCAR win to finish things off. I’ll take weekends like that anytime!
