It’s Wednesday. There’s a Godzilla museum?! How the hell did I not know about this?
Attractions Atlas takes us on a tour of Japan’s permanent Godzilla Museum at Nijigen no Mori on Awaji Island, and apparently they decided that simply having a Godzilla museum wasn’t enough. Nope. They had to go completely nuts with it.
Inside you’ll find movie memorabilia, models, props, dioramas, and enough Godzilla goodness to make a lifelong monster fan question why the hell they haven’t booked a flight to Japan already. It’s basically a shrine to the King of the Monsters—and unlike most museums, there’s a pretty good chance you’ll leave wondering whether Godzilla is actually going to stomp your ass on the way out.
But the real insanity is outside.
Part of the Godzilla Interception Operation Awaji is a nearly 400-foot-long Godzilla sculpture. And because looking at a giant radioactive lizard apparently wasn’t terrifying enough, visitors can strap themselves into a zipline and fly directly into Godzilla’s enormous mouth.
Yep!
Somewhere along the way, humanity decided, “You know what would be fun? Pretending to be a tasty little snack for Godzilla.”
