Chills!

It’s Monday. Brrr! It may not be winter yet, but it cooled down significantly yesterday. It’s officially chilly now. Between the rain, high winds, and below-normal temps, it felt even colder than it was. I took that as a perfect excuse to lobotomize Jack and roast his pumpkin seeds. I love making my own seeds and usually crank out at least two batches before Halloween. Good thing, too—this first batch is disappearing fast.

Since it’s spooky season, I’ve been on a scary-movie streak. We planned to dive into season two of Wednesday, but it had been so long since we watched the first season that we ended up binging most of season one before moving on to season two.

We also got a few other fall essentials in—restocked the candy corn, made a trip to a local pumpkin farm, put up more Halloween decorations, and wrapped up the weekend with a big bowl of homemade minestrone soup. No complaints here.

Amateur Goodness

It’s Friday! I hope you’re not stuck in Illinois this weekend, because it’s shaping up to be a soggy, chilly mess. We’re talking full-on soup-and-hot-chocolate weather here. The Bears take on the Saints, and I’ll be cheering them on from the comfort of my warm, cozy living room. Same goes for the NASCAR race at Talladega—I’ll be watching every lap from the warmth of my house, thank you very much.

When I was a kid, the first rock band I really got hooked on was Kiss. I knew every song, owned every album, and still crank them up to this day. So I was really saddened to hear that founding member Ace Frehley has passed away. He’d been on life support after suffering a brain bleed from a fall in his studio a few weeks ago. He was 74. I think I’ll put on “Dynasty” tonight in his honor.

Okay, the weekend is here so let’s put aside the spooky stuff for now and go with some amateur goodness. And how about I double the babes & jokes? Sounds pretty good, eh? Enjoy!

It’s Thursday. The band Broken Peach recently put their own spin on Metallica’s classic “Enter Sandman” and it’s every bit as wild as you’d expect. With their trademark mix of rock energy, theatrical flair, and killer harmonies, they turned the heavy metal anthem into a spooky performance that feels right at home for the Halloween season.
