Brian Wilson

It’s Friday. So sad to hear of the passing of Brian Wilson. I was lucky to see him perform back in 2015 at Ravinia in Highland Park, Illinois. The show was fantastic, something I’ll never forget. He was quite simply a musical genius and an undeniable master of harmony. I don’t think there will ever be another like him.

Paul McCartney said, “I loved him, and was privileged to be around his bright shining light for a little while. How we will continue without Brian Wilson, ‘God Only Knows.’”

My favorite of his songs, “In My Room” is below.

Brian Douglas Wilson, the co-founder and leader of the Beach Boys, died in 2025 at the age of 82. Wilson was the band’s primary songwriter and a pioneer in music, known for his creative control and use of the recording studio to create unique sounds. He transformed teen pop into a more poetic and modernist form, and some say his songs were intricately woven and distilled human emotions with artistic complexity.

2025 GSTA Rod & Custom Show

It’s Thursday. I have to admit that I’ve never heard of the GSTA Rod & Custom show (Gopher State Timing Association) before. However, after seeing this video from 612 Motorsports, I was blown away! It’s an annual event in Minnesota that showcases high-level hot rods, customs, street machines, motorcycles, and more. It’s the largest indoor motorized event in Minnesota, and is known as the unofficial kickoff to the car show season. It’s held at Canterbury Park in Shakopee, MN, annually in early April. If you’re a fan of hot rods and customs of all types, you’ll love this walk-thru of the 2025 show. Enjoy!

I wasn’t counting, but there were at least 20 or more cars and trucks in that show that I’d love to own. If you also think that I should have a few of these, I urge you to make a sizable donation here on my site to help make that a reality!

ChatGPT

It’s Wednesday. AI. Everybody is talking about AI these days. I was playing around with ChatGPT the other day and wanted to see how well it handled caricatures based on images I provided. The results were pretty cool. Just for fun, I gave it a photo of my old ’77 Corvette to see what it would come up with. If you take a look at the photo on the right, you can see the results. In my opinion, it did a damn good job, eh! When I hear artists complaining about AI and its effect on the graphic arts industry, I can see why they’re concerned.

Gonna go play with it some more!
