Steam Rally 2026

It’s Friday! We’ve been getting rained on for the past few days, but thankfully that is supposed to move out of here this afternoon and finally give us some sunshine for the weekend. Temperatures will only reach the 60s, but at this time of year, I’ll gladly take it. The alternative could be much worse.

I plan to head out to the Fall Classic car show and swap meet in Morris, Illinois, over the weekend. This is the last of the big outdoor car events for the year, so missing it is not an option. There’s always a huge variety of cars and trucks, plenty of food, and enough automotive goodness to keep me wandering around all day. When the weather cooperates, you really can’t find a better way to spend a fall day.

Okay, it’s not always about cars and motorcycles around here, you know. Today I’ve got a small gallery of steam tractors and mini vehicles submitted by Rob, a reader who recently checked out the Abergavenny Steam Rally in Wales. The event is Wales’s premier vintage vehicle and steam gathering and is held annually over the late May Bank Holiday weekend at Bailey Park in Abergavenny, Monmouthshire. There’s something pretty fascinating about seeing these massive old machines still operating after all these years. They’re noisy, smoky, ridiculously mechanical, and absolutely loaded with character.

So enjoy the photos from the Steam Rally and take a look at some of these wonderfully strange old machines. And, of course, we’ve still got the usual double babes and double jokes to keep things from getting too respectable around here.

Hi Keep,
As every year I went to the Abergavenny Steam Rally in Bailey Park. As is the way of things, very many of the same vehicles turn up every year. So, just to be different I captured the miniature vehicles people had brought to the show. Who knows how many hours they put into these things, so only fair they are recognised. Good to know your health is improving, Keep on Keeping on (see what I did there :-))

Rob
