More Corvette Goodness

It’s Thursday. Grand Sport, baby! Long known as one of the best bang-for-your-buck trims in the Corvette lineup, the Grand Sport is making its return for 2027. Details on the new C8-based version are still under wraps, but we do know it’ll feature a wider stance and a healthy dose of aerodynamic downforce. Under the skin, expect some hardware shared with the Z06, along with the possible debut of Chevrolet’s next-generation small-block V8. And if the rumors hold, Chevy might also roll out a hybrid, all-wheel-drive variant—potentially badged as the Grand Sport X.

Over the past few months, speculation surrounding the return of the Corvette’s Grand Sport trim has been rampant, and after what appeared to be the C8 Grand Sport was spotted in the wild a month ago, Chevy finally confirmed the model’s existence at the 12 Hours of Sebring last weekend, displaying it alongside previous Grand Sports during a parade lap. Now, a new report from The Supercar Blog claims that the C8 Grand Sport will debut with between 550 and 720 horsepower. The report says the RWD Grand Sport will make the lower number, while the Grand Sport X, which is widely believed to be the replacement for the hybrid E-Ray variant, will make the latter.

We got the word earlier in the week that Chevrolet was planning on running the new 2027 Corvette Grand Sport at Sebring prior to the start of the race. Not only that, but the new C8 would be accompanied by other Grand Sports from previous generations. The highlights of those included the Chassis 001 1963 Corvette Grand Sport Roadster originally raced at Sebring in 1964 by Roger Penske and Jim Hall, and the VIN 001 1996 Corvette Grand Sport which was previously owned by retired Corvette Assistant Chief Engineer John Heinricy. After reaching out to our friends at Chevrolet PR, we got the “suggestion” to be trackside between 8:30-9:00 am where we could see them drive by.

Tesla Plaid VS. Corvette ZR1X

It’s Wednesday. Since 2021, the Tesla Plaid has been busy embarrassing pretty much anything that lines up next to it—gas or electric—in the quarter mile. Now, here comes the 2026 Corvette ZR1X. Packing Chevrolet’s LT7 twin-turbo V8 in the middle and an electric motor up front, it delivers a combined 1,250 horsepower. Oh—and it rips from 0 to 60 in a ridiculous 1.68 seconds.

So… let’s see what happens when the ZR1X squares up against the Plaid.

A Better BIGGER Mousetrap

It’s Tuesday. The guys from the How Ridiculous Youtube channel clearly have no intention of ever not destroying things. Maybe taking a cue from The Backyard Scientist’s absurdly oversized mousetrap, the Aussie crew went ahead and built one big enough to crush an entire limousine. The real question, though: can this beast actually smash stuff without completely obliterating itself in the process?
