Venice Beach

It’s Monday. For this last part of our trip we’re staying in Venice. I’ve always liked Venice because there’s so much we like to see and do here. We always catch their annual art festival, their annual Corvette show, hang out at the Jetty, and the beach. Venice also has one of our favorite restaurants, The Crows Nest. So it just made sense to stay here for several days.

Gorgeous day yesterday. We spent the day soaking up the sun at Venice Beach. Later in the afternoon we headed up to the Jetty to check out the yachts coming in and out of the Gulf. Lots of people there fishing and enjoying the day. We wrapped the day up with dinner at the Dockside Waterfront Grill. I’ve been on a strict seafood & beer diet since we got down here, so their jumbo shrimp went down mighty easy!

Cripes!

It’s Sunday! We left Tampa yesterday and traveled down to Punta Gorda, our old stomping ground. We haven’t been to Punta in two years and aside from some new construction across the river, everything looks pretty much the same—and that’s a good thing. We spent the afternoon at Laishley’s Crab House, a favorite of ours, enjoying some seafood nachos, calamari, and Yuengling. It was a very good afternoon.

I heard about the waterspout that came ashore at Fort Myers Beach, just a few miles south of here. The video is pretty wild, check it out above if you haven’t seen it yet.

Tampa

It’s Saturday! We left Orlando yesterday and set out for Tampa. In what should have been an hour and a half drive took roughly 3 hours thanks to a crapload of traffic and construction. The weather was beautiful so instead of stopping at our hotel in Tampa, we decided to continue through and check out St. Pete’s Beach or Treasure Island Beach. We ended up out at Treasure Island Beach and spent the afternoon soaking up some sun. After the on-and-off rain in Orlando, warm temperatures and plenty of sun was exactly what we needed.

We ended the day with dinner outside at Snappers in St. Pete’s Beach. Very tasty, it was a good day.
