Black Magic

It’s Tuesday. I washed the Corvette the other day, and when I stepped back to admire it, something felt off. The car looked great—except for the tires. Even though they’re brand-new Michelins, they already looked faded and dull. The more I thought about it, they’ve looked that way since the day they were installed. Same thing happened with the Firestones I bought for my van last winter—brand-new tires, but none of that fresh, deep-black look you’d expect.

That got me thinking. A couple years ago I bought a can of Black Magic Tire Foam on Amazon but never tried it. After digging around in the garage, I found it. The directions couldn’t have been simpler: spray it on and let it work. The thick foam clung to the rubber, breaking down dirt, grime, and road film, then slowly evaporated on its own. No rinsing required. When it was done, the tires looked completely transformed—so black they almost looked wet. I’m not sure how long the effect will last, but for now, they look fantastic.
