Shorter And Shorter

It’s Monday. Everyone loves to gush about autumn—the cozy sweaters, the colorful leaves, the pumpkin-spice everything. But all I see is stolen daylight. One week it’s still sunny at 8 pm, the next it’s pitch-black before dinner. Nothing screams seasonal joy quite like waking up in the dark, commuting in the dark, and then coming home in the dark. If it wasn’t for Halloween, autumn would be a complete loss.

The weekend couldn’t have been better. On Saturday we took the Vette out for a cruise, winding along the back roads of north-central Illinois through towns like Oswego, DeKalb, and Rockford—the hometown of Cheap Trick. The weather was flawless, perfect for a top-down drive.

On Sunday we slept in. It was another beautiful day, so I cranked up my tunes and enjoyed being outside all afternoon cleaning up the Vette. Had some dinner, watched the Bears game, and then caught the NASCAR race. The Bears played a sloppy game against the Raiders. Yet somehow they managed to keep up and pull off a last minute win. The final score was 25-24. As for NASCAR in Kansas, I’m still watching the race. So far Denny Hamlin has been dominating it.

And that’s where I’ll wrap this up. Have a good Monday.
