That Hurt… That Hurt Bad

It’s Monday. I made the mistake of watching the Bears game against the Buccaneers on Sunday. I just don’t get it. I don’t understand how they can suck so badly… every… single… goddamn… year! I mean it takes effort to be that bad and do it consistently. It used to be embarrassing but now I fear they’ve graduated to painful. They’re so bad it’s actually painful to watch. I don’t know if I can watch this anymore.

On Saturday the girlfriend and I took a three hour spin down to Effingham, Illinois, for the annual MidAmerica Motorworks Corvette gathering. We’ve been going to this show since 2001 and have watched it grow into a major event that attracted Corvettes from many different states and other countries. However, ever since the pandemic it just hasn’t been the same. The show is now about a quarter of the size that it used to be. Prior to the pandemic there would be cars lined up as far as the eye can see. It used to have a party atmosphere with numerous Corvette clubs making the journey to Effingham together in large caravans of Corvettes. There were always lines of Vettes awaiting installation of parts just purchased. There were numerous seminars available along with celebrity guests and judges. And food, there was a huge food court with just about anything you could want. Sadly, it’s just not the same. I seriously doubt we’ll be back next year.

Car Show Goodness!

It’s Friday! I’m heading down to Effingham, Illinois, for MidAmerica Motorworks Corvette Fest this weekend. A few thousand Corvettes converge on Effingham this time every year and it’s one hell of a sight. There’s good food, tech seminars, parts, installations, and of course, gazillions of Corvettes! As a huge Corvette fan, this is my absolute favorite show of the year. As always, I’ll take plenty of photos at the show and feature them here on my site next week.

And speaking of automotive goodness, last Sunday I checked out a car show at the Joliet Municipal Airport. There were a couple hundred cars in the show and they ranged from old to new. I took a few photos of my favorites and put them into a gallery below. Enjoy the photos and don’t forget that the babes & jokes are doubled every Friday!
