It’s Tuesday. We’re into day 3 of our first heatwave of the summer and the evil-wicked humidity persists. If you’re working outside in the extreme heat, be sure to take breaks to hydrate. Unless you’re in Florida—then you’re screwed. In late April Desantis signed Florida House Bill 433, which prohibits local governments from requiring shade or water breaks for outdoor workers, or even giving preference to employers based on their heat exposure requirements. WTF?
Anyway, now that summer is here it’s time to get some things done around the outside of the house. In this video a Home Inspector takes a look at a new deck that was recently built, and… well, let’s just say that whoever did the work may be a less than stellar carpenter.

Just as a side note, whether you’re building a new home, an addition, or deck, be sure to have the work professionally inspected before you give them the last payment for the job.
Oldstice
Today I have a gallery of automotive goodness from something called Oldstice in Olds, Alberta. I’ll let PJ explain below.

Hi Keep,
My wife is in Olds, Alberta for a college class and she got some shots of a car show there in celebration of “Oldstice”. Olds is aboot 60 miles north of Calgary, aye!
“Summer Oldstice returns once more – June 15th, 2024! Summer Oldstice is an ever-evolving celebration of summer activities and “retail therapy”. We kick things off with our annual Pancake Breakfast in the parking lot of 50th Street and 50th Avenue. We are excited to have the Mountain View Pistons host a Show ‘n’ Shine on the streets of Uptowne Olds until 2 pm. Sidewalk sales bustle with specials. Our restaurants have patios popping and delicious specials available for your palate. Games and activities abound for the kids. There are more attractions and opportunities to take in, and more ideas come forward every year to keep the event fresh and fun.”
Feel free to use or not.
