It’s Monday. Hot & sticky. That pretty much sums up the past weekend in Illinois. And we’re not alone because it’s spreading throughout the Midwest, the south, and the east coast. That’s a lot of heat and… I love it!
Had a good weekend. Spent Saturday down in central Illinois hangin’ with family. On Sunday I cranked up the tunes in the garage and washed the cars. I got those done just in time to come inside and watch the second NASCAR race in Michigan. Harvick was unstoppable and ended up winning both the Saturday and Sunday races! Very cool. Next up will be a never-done-before road course at Daytona!

Phoebe Cates
It’s Tuesday. Back in the early 80s there was a movie called Paradise that introduced the world to Phoebe Cates. The movie was very similar to The Blue Lagoon and didn’t do very well. It was her second film, Fast Times at Ridgemont High, that got the attention of every teenage boy in the 80s. Why? It was the infamous pool scene that Rolling Stone described as “the most memorable bikini-drop in cinema history.” That scene alone was likely responsible for the wearing-out of the rewind button on countless VCRs across America.
Anyway, I was looking through some old clips on Youtube when I came across this video of Phoebe singing the title track to Paradise. I had no idea that she could sing, but it turns out that she went on to sing “Just One Touch” and “How Do I Let You Know” from her third film Private School. I guess ya learn something new every day, eh?
