Nascar In Chicago

It’s Monday. Woo-hoo! Motorsports history was made yesterday as Shane Van Gisbergen took the checkers in Nascar’s first-ever street race through downtown Chicago. The Grant Park 220 was a wild, chaotic race that was delayed by hours of heavy rain. But once the rain finally let up, it turned out to be a challenging race course that was a hell of a lot of fun to watch. Undoubtably it was a huge effort to put this together, but Chicago embraced the idea and made it happen. I really enjoyed it and I hope that Nascar continues to innovate by taking the sport in new directions.

Corvette Goodness

It’s Friday! This probably isn’t news to most of you, but I love car shows. They’re one of my favorite things about summer. A buddy and I checked out the weekly car show out in Plainfield, Illinois. It’s held every Tuesday night throughout the summer and features plenty of restaurants with outdoor seating, music, and of course, a bunch of really nice cars! Last Tuesday happened to be Corvette night, so I was especially juiced to be there. Not only were there numerous Vettes in attendance, but there were two C8 Z06s, two 70th Anniversary Editions, and a C8r Stingray! Again, I was ecstatic!

As always, I brought along my camera ad snapped a few of my favorites from the show. You can view them in the gallery below.

Chicago has been gearing up for the big Nascar road course race through the city for months now and it finally kicks off this weekend! This has never been done before so I’m really excited that it’s finally going to happen! Tune in to NBC on Saturday for the Xfinity series race and then the Cup series race on Sunday.

Okay, that’s it for me! Enjoy the automotive goodness below and the double babes & double jokes!

Dammit Canada!

It’s Thursday. Cough*Choke*Gag! For the past few days Chicago has had the worst air quality on the planet. Why? Canadian wildfires, that’s why. The jet stream has pulled the smoke down from Canada and into the United States. At the moment it has reached as far down as Georgia and Florida. In the Chicagoland area people have been instructed to remain indoors unless absolutely necessary. Especially vulnerable are those with raspatory issues. I was out in it most of the day yesterday and it didn’t bother me. What did bother me is the effect it has on our temperature. The haze is blocking out the sun and taking the heat out of our summer. So, Canadians—put out those damn fires. If I remember correctly, Trump talked about resolving California’s wildfires by raking up all those dry leaves. How about we send his fat ass up to Canada with a rake? Please…!
