Free Speech

It’s Tuesday. Jimmy Kimmel’s return to “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” marks more than just the return of late-night jokes—it’s a victory for free speech. After ABC suspended the show under pressure from the Trump Administration following his remarks about the killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, the public outcry from entertainers, rights groups, and citizens alike forced the network to reverse course. Reinstating Kimmel sends a powerful message: even when speech is controversial or uncomfortable, silencing dissent sets a dangerous precedent. Yesterday’s decision reaffirms the principle that in a democracy, open dialogue and critical commentary should not be muzzled.

Okay—With spooky season in full swing, I couldn’t resist sharing this hauntingly wicked 4K video of a decked-out home in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. Enjoy!

SWEET!

It’s Monday. Now that was a blast! The Bears came out fighting yesterday afternoon against the Cowboys. Caleb Williams looked sharp, and while the defense wasn’t flawless, they battled and came up with big plays. Sure, the Dallas defense isn’t exactly elite, but the Bears offense did exactly what you’d expect a good unit to do against a weak one. Easily the Bears’ best showing of the season. Final score 31-14.

My weekend was pretty good. Had dinner at Ted’s Montana Grill on Friday night, which was very tasty. On Saturday I had a bunch of work to do which took up most of the afternoon. On Sunday we went out to the Joliet Municipal Airport for their annual Air & Car Show. I’ll post photos from the show later in the week. I got home in time to catch the Bears game and then the NASCAR race in New Hampshire. Had some pizza and finished up some more work.

Yep, not a bad weekend.

A Dark Day

It’s Friday. In case you missed it, on Tuesday our government threatened to revoke ABC’s broadcast license for airing critical content of MAGA and Charlie Kirk.  In a democracy, government power is supposed to be constrained so that no official can punish citizens or the press for speaking out. When leaders use regulatory muscle to intimidate journalists and entertainers, they betray the public trust and erode the very freedoms they swore to protect. Threatening ABC’s license for critical coverage isn’t politics—it’s authoritarianism.  A free society depends on a free press, and it’s the duty of every American to reject this kind of authoritarian tactic before it becomes the norm.
