Hail to the king, baby!

It’s Wednesday. Bruce Campbell has built one of the most beloved cult careers in Hollywood by basically turning cheesy bravado into an art form. He first made his mark as Ash Williams in The Evil Dead, a low-budget horror flick that exploded into a cult phenomenon and spawned sequels like Evil Dead II and Army of Darkness. Over the years, he’s popped up everywhere from TV’s Xena: Warrior Princess to blockbuster superhero films directed by Sam Raimi, always bringing that unmistakable smirk. Campbell’s willingness to parody his own image cemented his status as a cult icon who’s in on the joke and proud of it.

Recently, Bruce shared news that he has been diagnosed with a form of cancer that he described as “treatable” but not “curable,” posting the update on social media to inform fans directly. He plans to step back from upcoming appearances and focus on treatment through the summer. He seems optimistic about his health and hopes to return this fall to promote his new film Ernie & Emma.

Groovy.
