NORM!

It’s Thursday. Chicago-native George Wendt made his name in the sitcom Cheers as the beer-guzzling Norm Peterson.  In a role that was never intended to be a regular cast member, Wendt was instrumental in developing his character which became one of only three cast members to have appeared in all 275 episodes. The series wasn’t an immediate hit, but caught on while running from 1982 to 1993. Cheers won 28 Emmy awards over its 11 seasons and attracted a staggering audience of 93 million in the US for its final episode in 1993. Wendt was nominated for six Emmy awards as outstanding supporting actor in a comedy series.

George Wendt passed away last Tuesday. He was 76.
