Stuck Indoors

It’s Monday. As the coronavirus rages on we pretty much spent the weekend at home. The girlfriend painted the living room, put up more Christmas decorations, we watched a few Christmas movies, and I put up my Christmas car tree. Every year around the holidays I put up my 3-foot Christmas tree that contains an ever-growing number of car related ornaments. No sissy ornaments—just cars! The newest addition to my car tree is Cousin Eddie’s RV from the Christmas Vacation movie. You can see it fairly well hanging in the upper-middle of the photo. The tree is looking a little crowded these days, might have to upgrade next year and get a bigger one.

Oh, the only disappointing part of the weekend was the Bears game on Sunday. Believe it or not but the Bears managed to blow a killer lead and lost to the Lions. Unbelievable. Please tell me it’s time for Nascar… please?

A Wish for Wings That Work

It’s Sunday! I’ve been a huge fan of Berkley Breathed’s comic strip Bloom County since I was in highschool. He’s released several books of his strip over the years, but in 1991 he released a children’s book titled A Wish for Wings That Work. While it starred Opus & Bill the Cat, both central characters from the Bloom County strip, it was an entirely different story. Soon after its release the book was made into an animated holiday television special. I managed to record it on VHS when it appeared on CBS. It wasn’t a very good copy but I watched it every December for many years until it was finally released on DVD.

Nowadays the entire special is available to watch on Youtube and featured here today. I still watch it every year and you can as well. It runs just over 22 minutes so check it out if you’re interested.

Arguing Christmas Trees

It’s Saturday! The holidays can be a stressful time for everyone. Even the Christmas trees are bickering…
