 It’s Friday! Here we go, the Labor Day weekend is upon us. The unofficial end of all things summer. I pretty much hate this time of year because I am in no way ready for summer to come to an end. It seems like it just got started and now it’s wrapping up. Damn.

Okay, I have a whole bunch of automotive goodness to wrap up the week in style. The photos come from the Berwyn, Illinois, Route 66 Show that took place last Saturday. As you can see from the huge variety of goodness, this is one of my favorite shows of the year. And with summer quickly coming to a close, car shows like this will begin to disappear as the cold weather approaches. So enjoy the photos while they’re here and the double babes & double jokes!

It’s Thursday. I was sad to hear that Jessi Combs—vehicle builder, race driver, fabricator, and TV personality, was killed on Tuesday in a crash while attempting to break her own land-speed record in Oregon.

Combs was a legend in the automotive world. Trained in fabrication and hot-rod building, she then made her way to automotive television. Combs was a host, builder, and technical expert on shows like Xtreme 4×4, Overhaulin’, Truck U, Two Guys Garage, All Girls Garage, and was a host and builder on a season of Discovery Channel’s Mythbusters.

Jessi was 39.
