Cruise Night

It’s Tuesday. Despite 92 degree heat and stifling humidity, the girlfriend and I checked out Cruise Night in Morris, Illinois.  This is one of my favorite shows because the variety of automotive goodness is spectacular and consistent. You can always count on seeing just about everything on four wheels. The show happens on the second Saturday of the month from June through October. If you want to show your car, get there early (before 5pm) and you’ll have plenty of time to grab some dinner and check out the show.

Here are a few of my favorites… enjoy!

Hot and steamy

It’s Monday. Everything in the Chicagoland area is all hot and steamy. Once again the combination of heat & humidity was kicking our asses. Even still, I had a pretty good weekend. I caught the Spider-Man movie (very good) with a buddy on Saturday afternoon and then headed out to a cruise night in Morris, Illinois. They’re held the second Saturday of the month throughout the summer and should not be missed if you happen to be in the area. Though there were fewer cars than usual, probably due to the heat, there were still over 450 examples of automotive goodness. I’ll feature a few of my favorites tomorrow.

It was just too sticky to venture out in the Vette topless, so I spent my Sunday afternoon washing the van. I also got drafted to help my parental units set up a new soundbar they bought. It’s the Bose Soundbar 700 which would’ve been an easy install except for the fact that they own an older Pioneer Elite plasma screen. It doesn’t have a HDMI (ARC) port, so I was stuck with using the Optical (Digital Out) port. No matter what I did, I couldn’t get audio to the soundbar. I hate trying to get old equipment to work with new equipment.

Oh, and the Nascar race in Kentucky had a hell of a finish that put the Busch brothers battling each other for the win. It was Kurt that took the checkers this time, showing his little brother how it’s done.

I’m beat, so that’s it for today…

What makes this song great?

Why does Boston’s ‘More Than A Feeling’ sound so good? Watch as Musicologist Rick Beato breaks it all down. I’ve always loved their sound and now have a much greater appreciation after seeing what it took to create their sound.
