It’s Saturday! A few years ago my girlfriend and I were driving through Georgia on our way down to Florida. It was late and I was going about 70 mph when something in the road caught my eye. It was large, shinny, somewhat flat, and in my lane. There wasn’t enough time to swerve so all I could do was brace for it. We hit it squarely and hard. I’m not totally certain what it was but it looked like a chrome front bumper from a semi. I thought we got off lucky because it made a hell of a noise but that seemed to be the worst of it—until I noticed the engine temperature going up quickly. Turns out the bumper flipped up as we went over it and took out the water pump. Fortunately, we were able to limp into the next town and had it repaired at a Dodge dealership the next day. I was fairly pissed at the time, but after seeing the video featured today, it could’ve been worse.

Big-Ass Ham
It’s Easter Sunday. It looks like we’re in for an unseasonably warm and sunny Easter here in Illinois. It’s usually somewhat wet and chilly this time of year, so 75 degrees with some warm sunshine will be a welcome treat.
I’ll be heading over to my parent’s place for a small family dinner this afternoon. What’s on the menu, you ask? What else but a damn fine big-ass ham, of course! I’m definitely looking forward to that. And then there’s the leftover ham sandwiches in the days to follow. I think I love those just as much as Easter dinner.
The only bummer is there’s no Nascar race on Easter Sunday. Thankfully, though, next weekend they’ll be at my favorite track, the Talladega Super Speedway! At 2.66 miles long, it’s the biggest and fastest track on the circuit. Can’t wait for that one!
